Strategies for Controlling Molds and Mycotoxins in Feed

Feed quality directly affects the performance of livestock and the safety of animal products. Ensuring feed quality means a guarantee for animal growth and health, and food safety, especially preventing feed from getting moldy during processing, transportation and storage, from reducing the risk of mycotoxin contamination. It’s crucial to select appropriate mold inhibitors, and scientifically application in feed or feedstuffs to prevent the decline of feed nutritional value and the production of aflatoxin B1. However, for mycotoxins that are already present in feed or ingredients, using an effective mycotoxin binder is necessary to reduce its impact on animals. Therefore, mold inhibitor and mycotoxin binder can not replace each other in feed, but can work synergistically as a controlling strategy to effectively ensure the feed quality.
